Whats this word “Newfeeling” anyway?
A friend, John O’Connor, and I made up the word “Newfeeling” a while back, and I’ve been using it for ages so I could avoid words like “fear” or “butterflies” or “scared” before Stand Up and Speaking gigs.
We define newfeeling as: That physical sensation we all have in our gut when we’re trying something different.
Newfeeling is neither good nor bad. In the same way that you feel hot when you walk outside on a summer’s day, when you walk out of your comfort zone, you get newfeeling. It’s a totally natural thing to feel when you’re challenging yourself, taking life by the horns and growing in the process. Don’t “feel the fear and do it anyway”, get the newfeeling and do it gladly.
Change the word, change the meaning, change the feeling.
